The Best Poses for Seniors

Senior photos are here to here to freeze this moment in time and bring you back to all the things that make you, you, in this stage of life. BUT, that doesn’t mean we have to capture the awkward, “what do I do with my hands” or that you should just know what to do. That’s where this guide comes in handy to give you some poses to keep handy or to just get familiar with what certain poses look like so you’re ready for them. These poses fall more on the organic/natural/candid side, your photographer (hopefully me!) will be doing the leg work of the posing here, they should be giving you direction and prompts to follow and making minor adjustments.

The number one thing to keep in mind is to try to actually have FUN, don’t take yourself too seriously and let yourself laugh (this gives the best authentic smile). The way you’re feeling will shine through more than you know.

Cross your legs, Bend both elbows slightly and lightly brush your finger tips together while looking off to the side.

Cross your legs, one hand on your thigh and look over your other shoulder

.

HOT TIP: Make sure you are comfortable in what you’re wearing, try it on before hand and test it out with some movement. You don’t want to wear anything too restricting/hard to move in OR something that moves too much and you have to keep adjusting it!

Lean over and place your forearm on your knee, bend your other arm and rest your chin in your hand.

Hold your cap out towards the camera and smile

TIP: Bring college gear, cap & gown, sports equipment or hobbies to use as props that are meaningful to you. This adds another layer to your session and further highlights this period.

Toss your cleats over your shoulder and look towards the camera over the other shoulder

Both hands up holding opposite corners of your cap with your fingertips, SMILE big!

Hold up your cap, kick back a leg and smile at your cap and then smile at the camera

Congratulations by the way!

Walk towards the camera with some pep in your step and celebrate your achievement!

Lean back on one arm sitting on your hip, cross your leg over your other bent leg flat on the ground, rest your free arm on your knee.

Lean up against a wall, put one foot on the wall and look off to the side

Grab your dress with both hands and twirl around, look at the ground, then off to the side and then try to make eye contact with the camera. Let out some laughs!
